We have owned our 13 gallon kitchen trash can for longer than I can remember . When the lid actuater failed we were frustrated on how to get a replace part to fix. We no longer had the purchase paperwork, my husband was cleaning the unit when he “discovered the company phone number.” He was shocked when he called and immediately spoke with a young lady who confirmed we could still buy the replacement part. It arrived quickly and was a simple installation. It’s been back to normal for a couple of weeks, we laugh every time it closes softly without the bang. Wouldn’t have any other trash can in our home. Took awhile to figure out why the lid wouldn't close all the way. Finally decided to test out the can realized the air damper rod was bent. I'm blaming the kids on that one. Ordered up a new one, and the customer service agent instantly sent me a link to confirm the product and order it. I like being able to do it that way; I am able to see and make sure we are talking about the same part, and it allowed me to purchase when I ready. Part was shipped and delivered quiclkly. I think it's a pretty expensive part considering there's not much to it, but it was better than replacing a &75 can.
It fixed the problem of the lid going down quickly
Replacement part correct. The free shipping took longer than I expected. If the bottom of the holder for the shock breaks off. (The shock will drop through) Install a piece of wood (like a dowel rod or scrap shoe molding) from the inside bottom of the can to the bottom underside of the shock holder. Cut length for a press into place fit. This will keep the shock in place
No tools required. Just pull the air damper straight up to remove the old one and insert the new. Easy peasy!
